Crystals & Essential Oils Team Up – Beauty Meets Function

Many people appreciate the benefits of using essential oils to support their wellness.  Perhaps you are one of them? Likewise, many people enjoy the subtle energies crystals can offer, whether as jewelry or as a chunk stuck in their pocket.  Sound familiar? But what if you could enjoy both at the same time?  And what if the piece of jewelry that could offer all that was beautiful, too?  That would be something to see!  Don’t you agree? I love designing jewelry that combines the energies of crystals and essential oils.  This particular necklace is one of my favorites (so far) because it’s so sparkly and easy to wear.  It coordinates with many outfits, and since the cork is glued in, you don’t have to spend any time at all worrying about when it will come out and spill your crystals. From a design standpoint, the necklace can be designed with crystals of any color – or combination of colors- a person may want.  they can be designed to match outfits as easily as they can be designed to match energetic intentions.  I hear angels singing! But what do I mean by “energetic” intentions?  Good question.  By that I mean you can design this necklace to support your energetic, emotional self through any challenge you might be facing right now.  Need to relax?  I would try amethyst crystals and lavender essential oil.  Feeling upset?  Heartbroken?  A combination of peridot and rose quartz may be just the support you need with some rose or lavender (it’s multipurpose!) essential oil. If you prefer to use color therapy, there are crystals and oils...

Homemade Instant Oatmeal

Banana Oatmeal Mix Oatmeal has a laundry list of health benefits.  It’s a high-fiber food rich in carbohydrates that provides energy and helps people achieve and maintain healthy weight and blood pressure.  It’s also a BIG comfort food, especially as part of a hearty breakfast on a cold morning.   Before we go a lot further, I have to be honest:  This is not, in any way, a health food!  This recipe works for my family.  There are plenty of ways to make it healthier.  If you don’t care to use dairy, you can substitute powdered coconut milk.  Staying away from sugar?  Use coconut sugar which has a much lower glycemic index than regular sugar.  Or you can use the sugar substitute you feel comfortable using.  Please consider this recipe a canvas.  It’s hard to mess up oatmeal.  Because I make a lot at a time and often store it for extended times, I do not add nuts to my mix.  I add them as I make individual bowls of oatmeal.   Honestly, I was never such a huge fan of oatmeal back when I was cooking and eating it plain.  Then I discovered Chef Tess.  At the time she was working for Honeyville and had developed a collection of flavored oatmeal “packets” for individuals and a separate collection of flavored oatmeal family-sized meals in quart jars.  The beauty of these, aside from being delicious, was that they could be made ahead and stored until needed.   I bought stacks of small plastic storage containers and made all kinds of flavored oatmeal that was ready with the addition of...

Diffuser Jewelry

If you are not personally using essential oils right now, you know someone who is. They are HUGE and their use is growing by the day. I truly hope they are not just a fad because I think natural options are great for wellness and for cleaning. I’m happy every time I think of all the people making themselves and their environment more healthy right this second!  I’m even happier to know there is such a thing as diffuser jewelry that makes it possible to enjoy the scet of your favorite essential oils all day long – not just at home by your regular diffuser. A lot of people I meet want oils to do things for them – help them focus, kill the germs on the counter, repel spiders — whatever. There doesn’t seem to be so much talk about how oils can make you feel. There’s a lot of science about how scents connect with the brain – that’s fascinating to me! The human olfactory system can distinguish an astounding number of smells. As we experience the avalanche of smells in our environment, humans tend to attach all sorts of emotions to them. How do you feel when you smell popcorn? Where were you in that memory? Who were you with? Chances are all that information is easy to remember. The day my husband met my aunt and uncle, we arrived at their home as my aunt was pulling a bubbling hot blueberry pie from her oven. The kitchen – the whole house! – smelled amazingly warm and homey and inviting. He instantly felt at home. We...
